Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Amaria was last seen at her home in the 2100 block of King Road, near Fort Street in Trenton, Michigan on July 7, 2019. The day before, she had asked her mother for a computer adapter so she could get online, then yelled at her mother when they were unable to find it after a short time. She then asked her mother to turn the hotspot on her cellular phone so she could get online.
At 3:00 a.m. on July 7, Amaria's mother thought she heard the sliding door open. Later that morning, when she got up to wake Amaria for church, the teen's bed was empty. Her mother found a note on the kitchen table saying Amaria was running away and not to try to find her because that would make it worse. She took a bag of clothes with her and a pair of sandals, but not her asthma inhaler or other medication.
A few days after Amaria went missing, there was a sighting of her in Westland, Michigan. About a month later, her family got a phone call from Amaria. In the call, she said that if they would say that a certain person had not taken her, she would be able to come home. Then the line went dead. She hasn't been heard from since.
Shortly before her disappearance, Amaria had received a packAge at the time of disappearance: from a man in his forties whom she'd met on social media. Her mother believes her disappearance may be connected to that person and that Amaria may have been a victim of human trafficking. Her mother had recently been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, and Amaria's grandfather had also recently died, and Amaria may have been upset about this.
She had missed a lot of school due to her state of health, and was taking online classes to catch up. She was a good student, very active in volleyball and swimming, was on the robotics team and studied piano. She dreamed of becoming a social worker when she grew up. She is classified as a runaway, but she may be in danger.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 25% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. Several organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and imAge at the time of disappearance: s of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.
