Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Tews was last seen at her residence on Sonic Road in Oak Harbor, Washington on June 30, 2011. She left all her cars behind and has never been heard from again. Her relatives reported her missing after they didn't hear from her for a couple of weeks. Her son, Raymond Willey, was living with her at the time of her disappearance; he had lived with her occasionally after her husband died of cancer.
Tews was fearful of Willey and in March 2010 she had sought an order of protection against him, claiming he refused to leave her home when she asked, drank heavily and acted paranoid. She said that when she fell at home and broke her hip, Willey refused to help her and she lay at home for hours before calling a friend for assistance.
The order was granted, prohibiting Willey from going to Tews's home or contacting her, but a few months later, Tews asked for it to be terminated. She asked for another order in September, saying Willey had pointed a rifle at her head and threatened her life. This second order was granted temporarily, with a permanent protection order hearing set for a week later, but Tews never showed up for the hearing and the order expired.
Investigators searched Tews's home, vehicles, garAge at the time of disappearance: and computers, but found no evidence in her disappearance. After she was reported missing, Willey was uncooperative and evasive with the investigation, and quickly moved to California. He died there in 2016.
Authorities believe Tews is probably dead and that foul play was involved in her disappearance; Willey is the prime suspect, but since his death the investigation has stalled. Since her disappearance she hasn't accessed her bank account. Her whereabouts are unknown and her disappearance remains unsolved.

September 2021 updates and sources

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 25% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends. Several organizations seek to connect, share best practices, and disseminate information and imAge at the time of disappearance: s of missing children to improve the effectiveness of missing children investigations, including the International Commission on Missing Persons, the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), as well as national organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the US, Missing People in the UK, Child Focus in Belgium, and The Smile of the Child in Greece.
