Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Lawson was last seen in San Angelo, Texas on August 8, 2013. He got into an argument with his longtime girlfriend and left home at 11:54 p.m., intending to go to his father's residence.
About 45 minutes later, Lawson called his brother to say he'd run out of gas. He then called 911 to say he was stranded. The call was garbled and Lawson was difficult to understand. He said he didn't need an ambulance, but asked for the police to come.
Lawson's brother and his brother's girlfriend went out to bring Lawson their gas can. They arrived at Lawson's truck at the same time as the police. It was on U.S. 227 four and a half miles south of Bronte, Texas, and not far from a rest stop, and parked haphazardly. The gas tank was in fact empty, the vehicle was undamAge at the time of disappearance: d and Lawson wasn't there. His keys and cellular phone were also missing; a photo of a similar phone is posted with this case summary.
His brother called him again and Lawson said he was "ten minutes up the road." He added that he was bleeding. The phone went dead at this point. An extensive search of the area turned up no sign of Lawson; he has never been heard from again. His family didn't find out he'd called 911 that night until they viewed his cellular phone records.
Lawson had an outstanding felony warrant, but his family doesn't believe he would have run from the police because of it. He worked in the oil industry at the time of his disappearance and left behind four children, three with his girlfriend and one from a prior relationship.
Although investigators have stated there's no evidence of foul play in his case, his family stated it's uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning and they're afraid for his safety. He is classified as an involuntarily missing person and his case remains unsolved.
