Medical conditions : Kunkel had been addicted to drugs in the past, but he was in recovery at the time of his disappearance and hadn't shown any signs of relapse.
Distinguishing characteristics, birthmarks, tattoos : Caucasian male. Brown hair, blue eyes. Kunkel may go by his middle name, Vern. His nickname is Den. He has very straight teeth.





Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Kunkel was last seen in Medina, Ohio on May 18, 2010. He saw his brother that day and said he didn't feel well, and took a nap. He was gone by 4:00 p.m. He was supposed to meet with his mother and stepfather the next day so he could help move their boat, but he never showed up. He has never been heard from again.
On May 22, Kunkel's silver Chevrolet pickup truck was found abandoned at a Subway in the 5100 block of Manchester Road in Akron, Ohio, just south of the PortAge at the time of disappearance: Lakes State Park entrance. It was locked and there were no indications of foul play.
Prior to his disappearance, Kunkel kept in daily contact with his family; it's uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning. He had a stump-grinding business and is a good handyman. His case remains unsolved.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. In most parts of the world, a missing person will usually be found quickly. While criminal abductions are some of the most widely reported missing person cases, these account for only 2�5% of missing children in Europe. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends.
