Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Ethan was last seen at his home in Chicago, Illinois on July 16, 2000. He is believed to have been abducted by his non-custodial father, Jairo Hernandez. A felony warrant was issued for him on August 10, 2000.
A photo of Jairo is posted with this case summary. His DOB : is October 3, 1973, making him 26 years old at the time of Ethan's abduction. He's described as Hispanic, 5'6 and 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He may use the first name James.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known.
