Description, clothing, jewerly and more : A gray t-shirt, a brown suede jacket, size 34/36 blue jeans and size 11 waffle stomper hiking boots with lug soles.
Distinguishing characteristics, birthmarks, tattoos : Caucasian male. Brown hair, hazel eyes. Austin had long hair, a full beard and a mustache at the time of his disappearance.





Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Austin was last seen in Fairfield, California on March 15, 1974. His mother saw him at home at 8:00 a.m. Later that day he went to his job at Solano Community College and picked up his paycheck. He didn't show up for work the next day and has never been heard from again.
On March 17, Austin's white 1971 Honda Z600 was found abandoned in the Linda Mar Shopping Center parking lot in Pacifica, California. He is considered missing under suspicious circumstances and foul play is suspected in his disappearance.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known. A person may go missing through a voluntary disappearance, or else due to an accident, crime, death in a location where they cannot be found (such as at sea), or many other reasons. By contrast, some missing person cases remain unresolved for many years. Laws related to these cases are often complex since, in many jurisdictions, relatives and third parties may not deal with a person's assets until their death is considered proven by law and a formal death certificate issued. The situation, uncertainties, and lack of closure or a funeral resulting when a person goes missing may be extremely painful with long-lasting effects on family and friends.
