Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Dowd was last seen by his brother at 11:30 a.m. on January 7, 2007, in Los Angeles County, California. He left to return his sister's silver 2003 Honda Civic Del Sol, but never arrived. He has never been heard from again. Dowd's sister's vehicle was found abandoned at Azusa Canyon in the Angeles National Forest later that same day.
Dowd's loved ones did not report him missing until January 21, because he had a habit of dropping out of sight for days at a time. He has never been gone for this long before, however, His disappearance remains unsolved.

A missing person is a person who has disappeared and whose status as alive or dead cannot be confirmed as their location and condition are not known.
